What Content Makes For a Great Affiliate Conference?

Any conference organizer has a tough job on their hand which is build an event that everyone loves and commits to the next one.

Events are a mix of networking and learning where some conferences focus more on the networking while others focus more on the content.

Of course shoutout to StatsDrone for being the newsletter sponsor.

In my personal experience ever since going to the Casino Affiliate Conference in Amsterdam and then the iGB Affiliate events, I felt the networking took centre stage over the content.

If I'm on a panel, or I'm a moderator or I'm doing a presentation, I try to put a solid effort in where people leave with value. I would like to add that there are some events where when I proactively ask if I can speak, I'm introduced to their sales team to discuss speaking rates. I won't name the conference.

I will say that I've been to some speaker sessions that I know were issued based on sponsorship that were amazing and non promotional. That takes guts to do something like that where people aim to deliver value and not care about pitching.

For a while, I stopped going to the panels and sessions because I felt that things were getting a little too promotional. I mean for some of them if people have to pay to speak, then it diminishes my interest.

I do think at least we are getting a renaissance of speaking coming back as expectations from attendees is increasing. Maybe it is because there are more conferences so there is now more emphasis on making the panels and speaking sessions better.

I can also say that in my experience, I think some of the SEO conferences are putting together higher quality events and this is an opportunity for people to learn from them.

I'm asking you this question to share what you think contributes to great content. I've asked this question on my Facebook account where I have more SEO friends there and I'm starting to see a pattern.
