Automations for Affiliates with n8n

Ever since I’ve made a commitment to do one newsletter per week, I’ve written about a lot of topics that I think are on the minds of affiliates.

Now I only have one problem with this. I like writing but sometimes it is difficult to measure the effort. That is, are these articles helping to create more StatsDrone users?

Speaking of users, shoutout to sponsors of this newsletter which is StatsDrone.com and AffiliateTrack.io.

I’m confident I’ve made it easier for some affiliates to signup to StatsDrone by building trust. I do want to show them that I can speak their language despite dropping our core affiliate sites 4 years ago.

The only guilt I have in writing these newsletters is feeling that I could be doing something else. That something else is AI research, automations, working on the product and any designs.

I think the only way for me to keep everyone happy would be to focus on these exact things I mentioned and combine it with a little bit of BIP. Yes, Building In Public.

So this week I’m going to share 2 automations I’m working on. I’ve got some things I’d like to share in regards to AI but those projects I’m working with affiliates direct and that involves confidential data. I’ll share when there is a good opportunity to do so.

Let’s start with an easy one.

Automate My Inbox with n8n

I was looking to get to inbox zero and I know I have too many emails but I couldn’t tell you how many of them are from newsletters.

Now I can.

So what is my automation?

I’m taking my Gmail account and marketing emails into labels so I can visually scan through my emails and know what might be important and what isn’t. Newsletters are rarely important but I want to take action of it. I don’t want to delete everything or have to ‘select all’ and mark as read.

So I found many different Workflows and built a few of them to try to get it to work. I probably looked at 5 different Workflows and 3 different tutorials for me to get comfortable setting this up.

I’m not going to give you that same tutorial but you can find them everywhere including here; https://n8n.io/workflows/

What does my automation do?

  1. Gets Gmail credentials

  2. Uses Gemini AI to understand my emails and categorize them via labels

  3. Applies labels

  4. Marks emails as read if I want those labels to be read

What is another automation I could add on top of that?

Summarize my emails for me and if I think there is a way of detecting urgent or valuable emails, maybe AI will help me with that too.

Tracking Crypto Payments with n8n

Here is another fun one. If you get paid in Bitcoin, ETH, USDT or anything crypto related, now you can build your own automation so you are notified that you are paid.

This one I cloned from this workflow here.

How this one works.

  1. Enter your USDT ERC20 address

  2. Get an API key from Etherscan

  3. Build a Telegram bot (is insanely easy)

  4. Run it

So if you’re using a single address for multiple payments, you’ll get notified you’ve been paid

Now if you’re an affiliate and you use USDT for getting payments, in a perfect world, you would assign 1 address per affiliate program.

This would mean that you know exactly who paid you without any confusion of mystery payments.

You can swap Telegram for Slack, email or place the data in a Google Sheet.

If you like this content, let me know!

I”m considering sharing more of it. I’m working on some other automations that I think would make the payments and accounting part of running a business or a network, to be a lot easier.
